Earth Forms
Sculptural Art

Dates: June 7 to July 2, 2013
Artists: Bob O'Neill with Norm Hinman and Patrick Mullen
Guest Artists: Claudia Dussault-Howell, Jeff Howell, and Brett Moten
Reception: Friday, June 14, 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.

The Artery's gallery will feature sculptural works of six artists, each using natural materials from the earth: stone, metal, glass, wood, and gourds.

Featured artist, Bob O'Neill, uses a variety of stones, including marble, alabaster, soapstone, and onyx. Bob sculpts pieces that reflect his love of nature. Many of his sculptures capture the essence of an animal, while leaving the original condition of the stone to contrast with the finished subject. The subjects range from seashells to lizards to figurative pieces.

Artery members Norm Hinman and Patrick Mullen bring wood and glass to the exhibit. Norm uses his lathe, turning pieces of poplar burls into large, natural shaped trays with irregular edges. Glass blower Patrick presents a unique and exciting series of dramatic art glass.

Guest artists Jeff Howell and Claudia Dussault-Howell of Chico join the group. Jeff produces a assortment of metal pieces from hammered copper bowls to abstract three-dimensional art using metal and other media. Claudia transforms gourds into amazing pieces utilizing carving, stone inlays, and dyes.

Reno artist, Brett Moten, creates conceptual sculptures in hand-forged iron and steel using both modern and traditional processes and tools. Brett loves exploring the plastic nature of metal when intense heat is applied.
