The Artery presents Stick Figures showcasing Elizabeth Webb's clay sculpture. The reception is Friday, July 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. The show extends from July 8 to August 1.
Liz Webb, a clay artist, presents a mixed media show including sticks, twigs and old frames with her clay figures. Her characters are colored with acrylics, stains and waxes. The old/up-cycled frames remind her of illustrations in timeworn children's books. There are little frozen moments in a make-believe creature's peaceful life. Her sculptures include animal-head ladies hanging out on branches—pondering and relaxing. The piece, "Rabbit's Tree House Key," has a rabbit/damsel reaching for the key with a little stick—stretching to another frame on the branch. Liz made a small bronze tree house key to compliment this sculpture. As you will see, Liz always includes organic materials in her pieces because they have soul, history, age and natural beauty.
