Lucy Della Rosa and Sharon McCallum
Reception: Friday, November 11, 7:00pm - 9:00 pm
For Sharon weaving is like painting with yarns. She fell in love with the whole process of working and experimenting with a full spectrum of colors and combinations of textures to create a finished product. Much of her inspiration and passion comes from her extensive travels tells a story of color from beginning to end with surprises in the middle.
Lucy B. Della Rosa is a weaver and knitter. The pieces that she has in this show are an example of how she likes to play with the juxtaposition of different yarns. One skein of yarn with fluid color variations is often placed next to bold, vertical strips in solid colors. They play against each other – one controlled and the other with feathered hues – blending from one color into another. The jewel tones of her work have a richness and intensity that create a dynamic look.
