"All Doll (No Gun) Show"
Reception: Friday, February 10, 2017, 7:00pm - 9:00 pm
The Artery presents, All Doll (No Gun) Show, showcasing hand made dolls created by Heidi Bekebrede as well as family, friends and customers. The show will extend from February 10 through February 27 with a reception on Friday, February 10, 7-9 pm.
Have you ever seen those giant billboards proclaiming: Gun and Doll Show at Cal Expo? Artery member, Heidi Bekebrede, has long been fascinated by this incongruous concept, but never wished to attend because the juxtaposition of guns and dolls seemed abhorrent. "I've always been attracted to all types of dolls . . . As a kid, I played with many kinds of dolls, and I still have my collection of dolls from around the world that I amassed because my dad was an airline pilot for Pan American Airlines." Now, Heidi has an exhibit of all dolls (no guns) to celebrate the nurturing nature of human beings.
Artery members as well as friends, family and customers are invited to display their handmade dolls. All loaned for the exhibit will be lovingly displayed and handled. Dolls can be on loan or for sale. A percentage of any sale will go to the Yolo Crisis Nursery.
During the show, there will be an ongoing activity in the gallery. Community members will be invited to color and cut out a pantsuit for a paper doll. The pantsuits will then be on display for the rest of the show. Punch and cookies will be served at the reception since this will be a fun party.
