The Artery presents "Quilting Arts: Not Just for Beds" showcasing the quilting art of Artery member Connie Taxiera with guests Kathleen Hart, Mara Lindsay, Kay Pearson, Anna Raber, Pat Shopher. The show will extend from March 1 through the 25 with a reception on Friday, March 8, 7-9 p.m. This reception coincides with International Women's Day, celebrating women's achievements. Quilting is a art form that has been passed down through generations, so we are proud to have 6 women artists illustrate how this art is perfect for our age.

Connie Taxiera asked five longtime quilting friends Kathleen Hart, Mara Lindsay, Kay Pearson, Anna Raber, and Pat Shopher to join her in this show. Although they have been quilting together for over twenty years, this will be their first show as a group. The original quilters worked in a Davis quilt store, which has since closed. Within a few years, they grew to seven like-minded quilting friends, who gathered monthly. The group also has multi-day quilting retreats to other locals several times a year. On days when everyone is sewing together, their space looks like a tornado blew through, with all the machines, fabrics and paraphernalia filling a room. Connie will show twenty-five collaged, rainbow-colored fabric flowers, as well as wall-hung quilts. Over 75 individual quilted pieces — for the walls, tables, and beds — will fill our gallery. This quilting extravaganza demonstrates the rich diversity of this art. These masterpieces can brighten many rooms in many ways.
