Kristina Kernytska
My name is Kristina Kernytska. I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1994.
My grandfather, Nikolai Gusev, was a painter and from my childhood years I was interested in art and painting, and he was teaching me.
It was the most favorite time of my youth.
In 2020 my husband got a job at UC Davis, and we moved to Davis, California. From the first days in California, I fell in love with the nature of the Golden State. Together with my husband we travel across California, and in every trip, I find something that inspires me for a new painting.
For me it is very important to create paintings that give a feeling of immersion. I hope that when people see my paintings, they can find themselves on the Pacific shore or surrounded by Yosemite epic landscapes.
I often experiment with the texture of paintings, I use palette knives and dense paint, to recreate the relief of the rocks and cliffs.
In my paintings I give special attention to brush strokes.
It may seem that my realistic paintings consist of chaotic curved lines, but I am trying to merge them all in one harmonic painting.
I really like to work with people, so also, I work as a painter tutor for kids and adults. I work with oil and acrylics.
