“Light & Grain” brings together two distinct approaches to natural beauty: the raw, carved grain of wood and the vibrant, textured light of oil paint. Kristina Kernytska’s paintings and Viktor Ivantsov’s wood carvings invite viewers to experience nature through texture, memory, and light.
Together, the works celebrate the landscapes and living world that inspire both artists.
Kristina Kernytska
Kristina uses thick layers of oil paint and a palette knife to create richly textured, almost three-dimensional landscapes. Up close, her paintings reveal abstract strokes and raw pigments; from a distance, they become realistic scenes. This contrast reflects how we remember places through both their overall atmosphere and vivid sensory details, inviting viewers to experience the landscape as a physical presence.
Viktor Ivantsov
Viktor was born in Ukraine. From a young age, he has used a carving knife to honor the living world God created. Each piece of wood carries a story, shaped by nature. His work explores different styles, reflecting the diversity of creation. Sometimes he turns to geometric forms—stars, pyramids, and delicate patterns. He said "I do not invent beauty; I reveal it”. Each sculpture is an expression of gratitude for the animals, birds, and forests, offered to everyone who pauses to appreciate the beauty of wood.
